Establishment of the Israel Technology Transfer Network [ITTN]
In 2004, the U.S.-Israel Science and Technology Foundation (USISTF) sought to form an organization that would unite various technology transfer offices throughout Israel. The purpose of the Israel Technology Transfer Network (ITTN) is to permit Israeli-generated intellectual property to translate more easily into marketable products for the benefit of the U.S. and Israel. It is part of the industry infrastructure which the USISTF is actively building and nurturing that will be an engine of growth for the competitive high technology industry in Israel.
USISTF recognized several years ago that strong ties between a country’s technology transfer offices, such as those at universities and hospitals, are an essential element of an internationally competitive high tech sector. It took the lessons learned from several nations in knowledge-based economies around the globe that had already institutionalized this mechanism through the establishment of a national technology transfer organization.
The USISTF was instrumental in positioning Israel onto this next level by officially launching ITTN at the ILSI BioMed 2007 Conference. The launch of ITTN drew the participation of noted figures in academia, business, and government. USISTF leadership and its network of associated experts and influential organizations will be instrumental in shaping ITTN’s success, and will further ensure it builds strong relationships with U.S. organizations to advance mutual economic interests.
Israel thrives on the continual dynamism of collaborative ventures and exchange of ideas, which produce synergy and added value in high technology. The USISTF and ITTN will continue to promote innovation and cross-pollination within Israel’s top technology transfer offices. Eventually, we aim to develop a single national source of information regarding technology transfer opportunities in Israel. USISTF is dedicated to continuing this investment in connecting Israel’s technology nodes, an endeavor whose technological, economics, and social dividends will benefit Israel and the U.S. for years to come.
ITTN website is coming soon.
